The Vision: A Green Heart of Hospitality
The driving concept for this Majlis was to redefine traditional Arabian hospitality through a modern lens, creating a serene yet sophisticated space that fosters connection and tranquility. The client desired a departure from overly formal aesthetics, envisioning a Majlis that felt fresh, inviting, and deeply connected to nature. Our ambition was to blend contemporary luxury with the calming presence of biophilia, crafting an environment where guests feel enveloped in comfort while experiencing the revitalizing touch of the outdoors. This space was conceived as a verdant hearth—a central gathering point where conversation flows amidst an atmosphere of refined natural beauty.
Design Strategy: Bridging Nature and Structure
Our design philosophy centered on a masterful integration of the natural world within a contemporary architectural shell. The strategy involved creating an expansive, light-filled environment where the exterior landscape and curated indoor greenery become integral design elements. A prominent, glass-enclosed indoor garden acts as the Majlis’s serene focal point, allowing natural light to filter through lush foliage and extending the visual depth of the room. This biophilic core is anchored by a striking, linear fireplace feature, marrying elemental warmth with organic vitality. The layout prioritizes clear circulation and multiple intimate seating zones, ensuring both grand gatherings and private conversations are comfortably accommodated, all while maintaining an uninterrupted visual flow to the green elements.
A Symphony of Materials
The true character of this space unfolds through a story told in textures, where every surface—from a rich wood grain to a soft fabric—was chosen to be felt and seen.
- Primary Surfaces: The walls feature a blend of soft, textured plaster in neutral tones, providing a serene backdrop, complemented by rich, vertical timber slatted panels that introduce warmth and natural rhythm. Polished light marble flooring throughout enhances the expansive feel and reflects ambient light, while a plush, subtly patterned area rug defines the main seating zone, adding a layer of tactile comfort and acoustic softness.
- Furniture & Textiles: The main seating comprises bespoke, low-profile sectional sofas upholstered in a luxurious, light beige textured fabric, offering an inviting and cloud-like comfort. Accompanying coffee tables feature a sophisticated interplay of dark, matte tabletops resting on textured, natural stone bases. Dining chairs and smaller accent seating echo this blend, with warm wood frames and coordinating upholstery. A houndstooth patterned ottoman introduces a subtle geometric accent.
- Biophilic & Sculptural Accents: The striking glass-enclosed indoor garden (Image 3 & 4) is the ultimate biophilic statement, housing mature, dark-leafed trees that create a dramatic green backdrop. These are complemented by smaller potted plants integrated into shelving and side tables. Overhead, linear suspension lights with a blend of metallic and frosted glass elements provide elegant, functional illumination, acting as subtle sculptural features. The expansive television unit is flanked by light stone panels, creating a monolithic, modern hearth for the linear bio-ethanol fireplace below.

Color Palette: Earth and Light
The palette tells a story of balance, where calm, neutral tones are brought to life by moments of deliberate, bold
- Foundation: The palette is built on a foundation of warm off-whites, creamy beiges, and natural wood tones, creating a serene and timeless backdrop across the sofas, walls, and flooring. This is expertly balanced by rich, deep browns from the timber paneling and dark matte accents in the coffee tables and shelving, adding depth and contemporary sophistication.
- Accents: The most prominent accent is the deep, lush green of the abundant indoor plants, providing vital pops of organic color that breathe life into the space. Subtle metallic touches, visible in the lighting fixtures and fireplace detailing, introduce moments of understated warmth, while the striking black and white veining of the marble-effect accent panel (Image 5 & 6) behind the sofa provides a dynamic artistic focal point without introducing harsh color, maintaining the overall tranquil atmosphere.
